Numbulwar Airport (NUB)

Numbulwar Airport is the main air link for the small Aboriginal community of Numbulwar, located on the western shore of the Gulf of Carpentaria in Australia's Northern Territory. The sealed, all-weather airstrip provides a vital connection for residents, freight, charter flights and visiting services in a remote part of Arnhem Land. The aerodrome sits a short distance west of the township, with a single sealed runway aligned 15/33 and a compact terminal and shelter area. It handles domestic and community flights rather than large commercial airline operations, and no fuel or customs services are available on site. Road access is possible in the dry season from Katherine, Darwin and Nhulunbuy, but air travel remains an important option, especially when roads are affected by seasonal conditions. A short road link connects the airport to Numbulwar town. With its simple passenger facilities and single apron area, Numbulwar Airport supports essential travel to Numbulwar and onward regional links to centres such as Alyangula on Groote Eylandt and Nhulunbuy.
