About Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimat
Northwest Regional Airport Terrace-Kitimat is the primary airport serving Terrace, Kitimat and the wider Skeena region of northwestern British Columbia. It has provided air services to the area since 1947 and is operated by the not-for-profit Terrace-Kitimat Airport Society.
The airport traces its origins to 1943, when it was built as a Second World War air base. Ownership later passed to the federal Department of Transport, and in 1999 the facility was transferred to the Terrace-Kitimat Airport Society. An expansion of the airport terminal building was completed during 2006–2007.
Located less than a 10-minute drive from downtown Terrace, YXT offers daily flights to Vancouver on Air Canada and WestJet, plus Central Mountain Air services to Prince George. The single terminal building handles check-in, security screening, arrivals and passenger amenities.
