Newcastle Airport (NTL) is the main airport serving Newcastle, the Hunter region and Port Stephens in New South Wales. Located at Williamtown, about 24 km north of the Newcastle CBD, it is jointly owned by the City of Newcastle and Port Stephens Council and works with airlines including Jetstar, Qantas, Virgin Australia, Link Airways, FlyPelican and Eastern Air Services.
The airport has long served as a regional hub for domestic routes to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Cairns, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Lord Howe Island. A major terminal redevelopment opened in 2025, adding a larger arrivals hall and swing-gate capability that allows the terminal to switch between domestic and international operations; international services to Bali began in October 2025.
The single terminal at Williamtown handles check-in, security, departures, arrivals, baggage claim and customs in one connected facility. Ground transport includes Port Stephens Coaches buses (routes 130 and 131), taxis, rideshare services and rental cars; the airport has no direct rail connection, so most travellers continue by road.
