About Narrandera Airport
Narrandera Airport is a small regional airport serving Narrandera and nearby Leeton in the Riverina region of New South Wales. Its aviation history dates back to 1940, when the site was acquired as RAAF Station Narrandera and used as a No. 8 Elementary Flying Training School under the wartime Empire Air Training Scheme; the military station closed in 1945 before the airfield transitioned to civilian use.
Located on Irrigation Way roughly 6 km west of Narrandera's town centre, the airport has a single small passenger terminal and two runways. Regional Express (Rex) operates scheduled passenger services, connecting Narrandera with Sydney and Griffith.
There is no scheduled public transport directly to the terminal, so most travellers use taxis, pre-booked private transfers or rental cars, and the airport offers free parking close to the terminal building. The compact single-storey layout keeps check-in, security and baggage claim quick and easy to navigate.
With a waiting lounge, restrooms, accessible facilities and vending machines, Narrandera Airport functions as a practical and convenient gateway for the Riverina rather than a large hub.
