Nappa Merrie Airport is a small outback airstrip located on Nappa Merrie Station in the Shire of Bulloo, in far south-west Queensland near the South Australian border. It serves a remote pastoral property in the Channel Country and is used mainly by light aircraft and general aviation traffic rather than scheduled commercial services.
The airfield lies in the Cooper Creek region, approximately 40 km north-east of Innamincka and around 450 km north-west of Cunnamulla. Its single unsealed runway, oriented 14/32 and about 1,059 metres long, supports access for station operations, aerial work and visitors travelling through this isolated part of Australia.
Because of its remote location, travel from the airport is almost entirely road-based. Journeys to Innamincka follow unsealed outback tracks and are best made in a suitable four-wheel-drive vehicle, with travel times depending heavily on road conditions and the season.
For travellers, Nappa Merrie Airport is a practical but very limited gateway. There is no passenger terminal or commercial airport infrastructure, so visitors should plan fuel, food, water and accommodation in advance and treat the airfield primarily as a remote airstrip for pre-arranged flights into the outback.
