About Mont-Dauphin Saint-Crépin Airfield

Mont-Dauphin Saint-Crépin Airfield is a small civil aerodrome serving the upper Durance valley in the Hautes-Alpes department of south-eastern France. Located about 4 km north-north-west of the fortified village of Mont-Dauphin and within the commune of Saint-Crépin, it is used mainly for leisure aviation, gliding, parachuting and mountain-flying training rather than scheduled passenger services.

The aerodrome sits at an elevation of around 903 m and operates an asphalt runway, 16/34, approximately 845 m long, together with a grass runway used for gliding and light aircraft. The Centre européen de vol en montagne (CEVM) manages the site, and local clubs including the Aéroclub des Quatre Vallées and the Club de vol à voile Guil et Durance are based there.

The airfield lies close to the N94 and D137T roads, roughly 21 km from Briançon and about 57 km from Gap, giving road access to the Guillestrois, Queyras and Écrins areas as well as nearby summer and winter resorts. There is no public transport directly at the airfield, so most visitors continue by car, taxi or pre-arranged transfer.

Because the airfield is VFR-only and has no control tower, customs or airline check-in, it is best suited to private pilots and leisure flying. Its fuel supply, hangars and club facilities still make it a practical base for exploring the southern French Alps.
