About Meselia Airport
Meselia Airport is a small domestic airstrip serving the Meselia area, Demgulu and remote coastal communities in West New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea. It provides an important air link for local residents, medical supplies and goods in a region where road travel to larger centres is often difficult.
The airport is located near the south coast of West New Britain, roughly 130 km southwest of Kimbe, the provincial capital. It has a single runway and one basic terminal building, and mainly handles small aircraft operating in daylight and good weather conditions.
Road connections to Kimbe are limited by rugged, heavily vegetated terrain, so most travelers continue by pre-arranged road or boat transport or by small connecting flights. Travelers should confirm arrangements in advance because services can be affected by weather.
Facilities at the airport are simple, and there are no formal shops or restaurants, so passengers should bring essential supplies. Despite its small size, the airstrip remains an important gateway for the local communities of West New Britain.
