About Merritt Airport
Merritt Airport, also known as Saunders Field, is a municipal general aviation airport serving Merritt and the Nicola Valley in British Columbia's southern interior. Located about 3 km east of downtown Merritt, it supports private, corporate, air ambulance and wildfire support aircraft rather than scheduled airline traffic.
The airport has a single asphalt runway, 03/21, measuring about 1,219 m in length, along with a compact terminal and apron area that includes hangars, aircraft tie-downs and fueling. Its location makes it a practical aviation access point for the Nicola Valley and surrounding interior communities.
Road access from the airport to central Merritt takes only a few minutes, and highway connections from Merritt lead toward Kamloops, Kelowna and other destinations in British Columbia's interior. This makes the airport convenient for private pilots, charter travelers and support operations visiting the region.
Passenger facilities are simple and functional, with a passenger and pilot lounge, washrooms, vehicle parking and on-site fuel including Avgas and Jet A. The airport serves as a quiet, accessible hub for general aviation travel in and out of the Nicola Valley.
