About Mayaguana Airport
Mayaguana Airport is the only airport serving Mayaguana, a remote island in the southern Bahamas. It provides scheduled domestic air service between Mayaguana and Nassau, connecting island residents and visitors with the rest of the country.
A new passenger terminal was commissioned at Abraham's Bay in February 2026. The air-conditioned facility includes a ticketing area with seating for about 30 passengers, dedicated airline offices, a baggage screening area, restrooms, vendor space, and a police station, while the airport's 6,700-foot asphalt runway can accommodate mid-sized jet aircraft.
Located about 3 miles (5 km) northwest of Abraham's Bay, the island's main settlement, the airport is reached by road. Private transfers, rental vehicles, and local road transport connect arriving passengers with Abraham's Bay, Pirate's Well, Betsy Bay, and the island's coastal areas.
As a small island gateway, Mayaguana Airport focuses on essential domestic connectivity rather than extensive commercial facilities. Travelers should confirm flights and arrange ground transportation in advance, especially given the island's limited services.
