About Marathon Airport
Marathon Airport (YSP) is a small regional aerodrome serving Marathon, a town on the north shore of Lake Superior in Ontario, Canada. Rather than hosting scheduled airline service, it primarily supports general aviation, charter, private and medevac flights, making it an important local link for residents, businesses and visitors.
Operated by the Corporation of the Town of Marathon, the airport lies about 5 km (3 mi) northeast of the town centre. Its single asphalt runway, 16/34, is roughly 3,933 feet long and suitable for smaller aircraft, private planes and charter operations.
The compact terminal building includes passenger and pilot lounges, a telephone and car rental access, with self-serve aviation fuel available on site. Because of its small scale, passengers generally coordinate arrivals and departures directly with their flight operator.
Located close to the Trans-Canada Highway, the airport offers a practical gateway to Marathon and the surrounding Lake Superior north shore. Taxis, private transfers, chauffeur services and rental cars provide onward connections into town and the wider region.
