Manumu Airport (UUU)

Manumu Airport is a small rural airstrip in the Owen Stanley Range of Central Province, Papua New Guinea, near the village of Manumu. Its remote location makes it an access point for communities and visitors travelling to the Kokoda Track area rather than a conventional commercial airport. Located roughly 60 km from Port Moresby across mountainous terrain, the airfield is suited to light aircraft and charter operations. Road connections in the area are extremely limited, so most travellers combine air access with walking tracks or pre-arranged local ground support. The airstrip is basic, with no large terminal complex, and passenger facilities are minimal. Arrivals and departures are handled directly at the runway, with baggage and onward arrangements managed by the operating crew, charter provider or local guides. Because of its position near the Kokoda Track, Manumu Airport serves mainly trekking groups, local communities and charter flights. Visitors should plan all logistics in advance and expect a simple, remote airfield experience.
