Mainoru Airstrip (MIZ)

Mainoru Airstrip is a small remote airfield in the Northern Territory's Roper Gulf Region, serving Mainoru Station and the Central Arnhem Road corridor. It acts as a practical aviation access point for the surrounding cattle station and Arnhem Land outstation areas rather than a conventional passenger gateway.

The airstrip sits about 250 km northeast of Katherine and is reached along the largely unsealed Central Arnhem Road. It has a single unpaved runway, designated 13/31, and basic airfield facilities, with no conventional passenger terminal. Operations are focused on private, charter and station aircraft.

There is no scheduled public transport at the airstrip, so travellers need to pre-arrange four-wheel-drive road transport or private and charter flights. The route links the area southwest toward Katherine and northeast toward Nhulunbuy, but road conditions can be rough and access should be planned in advance.

For station work, aerial access and travellers crossing central Arnhem Land, the airstrip offers a useful but remote landing point. Visitors should confirm runway conditions, fuel, supplies and local access requirements before departure.
