About Lynden Pindling International Airport
Lynden Pindling International Airport is the main international gateway to Nassau and The Bahamas. Originally built in 1957 and formerly known as Nassau International Airport, it was renamed after Sir Lynden Pindling, the first Prime Minister of The Bahamas. Between 2008 and 2013 a $411 million redevelopment created a modern 606,000-square-foot terminal complex with three passenger terminals.
Located approximately 16 km (10 miles) west of downtown Nassau on New Providence, the airport serves scheduled and charter flights to the United States, Canada, Europe and Latin America. Its three terminals are organized around U.S. departures, international and U.S. arrivals, and domestic and international departures and domestic arrivals.
Ground transport from the airport includes taxis, car rentals, ride-sharing services and private shuttles, with public buses not permitted to operate within the airport grounds. This makes it straightforward to continue to downtown Nassau, Paradise Island, Cable Beach and nearby resorts.
With dining, shopping, duty-free outlets, lounges, free Wi-Fi and accessibility services, LPIA functions as the country's principal air gateway for leisure and business travellers.
