Lorraine Airport (LOA)

Lorraine Airport is a small private airstrip serving Lorraine Station, one of the largest cattle stations in the remote Gulf Country of Queensland, Australia. It supports private charter flights, station aircraft operations and medical services such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service, rather than scheduled commercial airline traffic.

The airport has a single unsealed dirt and gravel runway, aligned 15/33 and approximately 1,373 metres long, with no runway lighting. Operations are limited to daylight hours and can be affected by wet-season weather between November and April, when heavy rain can make the strip temporarily unusable.

Located roughly 190 kilometres north of Mount Isa, the nearest major regional hub with commercial services, the airport is reached by private vehicle or pre-arranged transport. There is no public bus, taxi or on-demand car rental at the site, so travellers must organise ground transport and landing permission with station management in advance.

For visitors, Lorraine Airport functions as an outback access point rather than a conventional passenger terminal. It has no shops, dining, lounges or public waiting areas, and passengers should be self-sufficient with food, water and essential supplies. The airport operates in the Australian Eastern Standard Time zone (UTC+10).
