About Limón International Airport
Limón International Airport is the main air gateway for Limón, a Caribbean port city in Costa Rica's Limón Province. Opened in 1954, it is one of four airports in Costa Rica designated as international, although its current scheduled passenger services are primarily domestic.
The airport sits about 4 km south of downtown Limón, near Barrio Cieneguita, and serves the city as well as nearby Caribbean coast destinations such as Puerto Viejo, Cahuita and Tortuguero. Its single asphalt runway is designated 14/32 and is about 1,800 metres long, with a compact terminal that handles a small number of flights.
SANSA Airlines operates daily flights between Limón and San José's Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO), connecting the Caribbean coast with Costa Rica's main international hub. The terminal is small and functional, with check-in counters, a waiting area and basic arrival services.
