About Lake Nash Airport
Lake Nash Airport is a small remote aerodrome serving Alpurrurulam, also known as Lake Nash, in the eastern Northern Territory. Located close to the Queensland border, the airport supports general aviation, charter and private flights for a community that relies on road and air links to reach larger centres.
The surrounding Barkly region is sparsely populated, and Mount Isa in Queensland is the nearest major town, around 200 kilometres to the north with the road journey considerably longer. The airport therefore plays a practical role in connecting residents, service providers and visitors to remote outback destinations.
Infrastructure at the airport is modest, with a compact airstrip rather than a large commercial terminal complex. Most passenger journeys are arranged in advance, and onward travel to Alpurrurulam or Mount Isa is typically completed by road.
Because of its remote location, travelers should plan supplies, fuel and transfers ahead of time. Despite limited facilities, the airport remains an important access point for the Lake Nash community and nearby Northern Territory and Queensland outback areas.
