La Chinita International Airport is the main international airport serving Maracaibo, the capital of Zulia state and one of Venezuela's largest cities. Opened on 16 November 1969, it operates as a joint civil and military airport and functions as a gateway to western Venezuela. Located in San Francisco municipality, southwest of central Maracaibo, it is among the busiest airports in the country. Passenger services are organized across two terminals: a National Terminal for domestic flights and an International Terminal for international flights, both open 24 hours a day and linked by pedestrian walkways.
