About Kingscote Airport
Kingscote Airport is the main air gateway to Kangaroo Island, serving the town of Kingscote and the surrounding island region in South Australia. Located about 12 km southwest of Kingscote in the locality of Cygnet River, the airport links the island with mainland Australia through scheduled QantasLink flights to Adelaide, as well as charter and general aviation traffic.
The airport has been managed by the Kangaroo Island Council since 1983. A major upgrade completed in 2018 included a runway improvement and a new single terminal building, giving travellers a compact and easy-to-navigate facility with integrated arrivals and departures.
There is no scheduled public bus serving the airport, so most passengers continue their journey by pre-booked taxi, private transfer, shuttle or rental car. The drive to Kingscote along the Playford Highway normally takes around 12–15 minutes.
With a café, a small local products shop, free Wi-Fi, charging points and accessible facilities, Kingscote Airport provides the practical essentials for visitors arriving on Kangaroo Island.
