Kings Canyon Airport is a small regional airstrip in the Northern Territory that provides the closest air access to Watarrka National Park and Kings Canyon in Australia's Red Centre. It mainly handles scenic flights, private charters and helicopter tours rather than scheduled airline services.
Located about 10 km from Kings Canyon Resort and near the George Gill Range, the airport has a single sealed runway and a compact, single-storey passenger building designed for light and regional aircraft. Operations are limited to daylight hours.
Most visitors reach the area by road from Alice Springs, roughly 320 km away via the Mereenie Loop, or from Uluru and Ayers Rock Resort, and many continue by charter flight or pre-arranged vehicle. The airport has no public transport or taxi rank, so transfers to Kings Canyon Resort and tour pickups are normally arranged in advance.
Facilities at the airstrip are intentionally simple, with a sheltered waiting area and limited amenities, making it a functional gateway for outback touring rather than a full-service terminal. Its main benefit is reducing the long outback drive for travellers arriving by air.
