About Kelowna International Airport
Kelowna International Airport is the main airport serving Kelowna and the wider Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. It connects the region with domestic destinations across Canada and selected international routes, supporting both leisure travel to the area's lakes, wineries, and ski resorts and business travel throughout the interior of the province.
The airport's aviation history began in 1947 with the first flight from Ellison Field, followed by the opening of a terminal building in 1949. Scheduled commercial service to Vancouver started in 1958, and a major expansion in 1998 doubled the terminal building and increased parking and airside capacity.
Today the airport operates from a single terminal with a departures level and an arrivals level, offering check-in, security screening, baggage claim, and customs facilities for international flights in one compact complex.
Located approximately 14 km northeast of downtown Kelowna and accessed from Highway 97, the airport is served by taxis, rideshares, shuttles, rental cars, and public transit, making onward travel to Kelowna and the surrounding Okanagan straightforward.
