About Kamulai Airport

Kamulai Airport is a small bush airstrip serving Kamulai Mission and the surrounding Goilala district in Central Province, Papua New Guinea. It sits at an elevation of about 5,800 feet and has a single gravel runway of roughly 480 metres, suitable for small aircraft operating in mountainous terrain.

The airport mainly supports charter and mission flights, including services operated by Mission Aviation Fellowship and other bush operators, connecting remote communities with towns such as Port Moresby, Wau and Kerema. There is no regular scheduled commercial airline service, so travel is generally arranged in advance with an operator.

Located about 150 kilometres north of Port Moresby, Kamulai is reached primarily by air. Road access is rough and weather-dependent, and travelers should confirm onward transport before departure or on arrival.

Facilities are minimal, and the airstrip functions mainly as a lifeline for local communities, carrying passengers, cargo and medical supplies into a remote part of Papua New Guinea.
