About Jabiru Airport
Jabiru Airport is the principal air gateway to Kakadu National Park and the small township of Jabiru in the Northern Territory. Situated within the park, roughly 7 km east of the town centre, it mainly supports light aircraft, charter flights, scenic flights and regional freight.
The airfield was established to serve the nearby Ranger uranium mine and the Jabiru township, and has long been used by Kakadu tourism operators, scenic flight companies and charter services. In 2026, the Gundjeihmi Aboriginal Corporation announced it would take over operation of the airport from Energy Resources Australia, securing continued access for the region.
The airport has a single 1,402-metre runway and a small parking apron for light aircraft, with no conventional passenger terminal. Facilities are basic, and most travellers connect onward by pre-arranged transfer or hire car.
Jabiru is about 255 km east of Darwin and is reached by road via the Arnhem Highway. From the airfield, the township is only a few minutes away, while Darwin, other Top End destinations and Kakadu's major sights can be reached by car, private transfer or organised tour.
