About Hpapun Airport
Hpapun Airport is a small airport serving Hpapun, also known as Papun, in Kayin State, eastern Myanmar. It provides a local air connection for the town and the surrounding Hpapun District, a mountainous part of northern Kayin State.
The airport sits at an elevation of about 91 metres and operates a single runway designated 18/36, approximately 1,220 metres long. It mainly supports light aircraft and regional operations, and its infrastructure remains basic rather than geared toward large passenger volumes.
Located close to Hpapun town, the airport offers a practical entry point for travel deeper into the region. Road connections link Hpapun with Hpa-An, the capital of Kayin State, which lies roughly 175 km away by road with typical driving times of around three hours or more depending on road conditions.
Because it is a small regional facility, onward travel is best planned in advance. Taxis, private transfers and pre-arranged vehicles are the main practical options, and passengers should expect limited amenities at the airport itself.
