About Hornepayne Municipal Airport
Hornepayne Municipal Airport is the small regional and general aviation airport serving the Township of Hornepayne in the Algoma District of Northeastern Ontario. Opened in 1977, it supports private, charter, corporate and government flights rather than large-scale scheduled commercial airline operations.
The airport has a single asphalt runway aligned 07/25 and a compact terminal building, along with an on-site fueling depot. It is used mainly by private pilots, corporations, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ministry of Health.
Located about 2 km south-southeast of the town centre, the airport sits close to Highway 631, which links Highways 11 and 17 and provides road access to nearby communities. Hornepayne is also served by VIA Rail passenger trains.
For travelers, the airport offers quick and simple access to the township, with limited on-site amenities and most shops, dining and accommodation found in Hornepayne itself. It remains a practical entry point for visitors arriving by private or charter aircraft in Northern Ontario.
