About Hope Airport
Hope Airport, also known as the FVRD Regional Airpark, is a small general aviation airfield serving Hope, British Columbia, at the western entrance to the Fraser Canyon. Owned and operated by the Fraser Valley Regional District, it sits about 4.8 km west of the town centre.
Constructed before 1942 by Transport Canada, the airpark has a grass turf runway measuring 3,960 feet by 250 feet and covers roughly 106 acres. It is used mainly by private and recreational aircraft, and it is home to the Vancouver Soaring Association, which offers gliding membership and instruction.
Beyond recreational flying, the airpark functions as an emergency and community aviation hub for ambulance, wildfire, logging and pipeline operations. During the 2021 atmospheric river flooding, the airfield supported more than 500 flights in five days to bring in supplies and evacuate people from the area.
Passenger facilities centre on the Flight Centre building, which provides a waiting area, washrooms, showers, Wi-Fi and an observation deck. The airport is reached by road from Hope, with taxi, private transfer and rental car options for continuing to Vancouver and other Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland destinations.
