About Heho Airport
Heho Airport is the main domestic airport serving the southern Shan State and the primary air gateway to Inle Lake, one of Myanmar's most visited destinations. The airport also serves nearby Taunggyi, the capital of Shan State, and the hill town of Kalaw.
Located about 4 km northwest of Heho town, the airport operates a single passenger terminal and handles scheduled domestic flights to Yangon, Mandalay, Bagan/Nyaung-U and other regional destinations. Scheduled international services are not currently operated, although some charter and private flights are accepted.
An airfield near Heho was used as a military airbase during the Second World War, and the present airport later became the region's main civil air link. Road transfers by taxi, private car and hotel vehicle connect the airport with Nyaung Shwe, Inle Lake, Kalaw and Taunggyi.
Although facilities are compact and primarily domestic, the airport provides an efficient stop for travellers visiting the Shan State's lakes, trekking areas and cultural sites, with most onward journeys made by road.
