About Haivaro Airport
Haivaro Airport is a small rural airstrip serving the village of Haivaro in Gulf Province, Papua New Guinea. It is part of the country's network of remote airstrips that connect isolated communities in a region with very little road infrastructure.
The airport has a single grass and clay runway, approximately 500 metres long and oriented 06/24, together with a basic open-air shelter beside the runway. It handles light short take-off and landing aircraft and charter flights, mainly linking Haivaro with Kerema, Port Moresby and other regional airstrips.
Located in the interior of Gulf Province, the airstrip is surrounded by rivers, wetlands and dense tropical forest. Access is almost entirely by air, and local ground movement is limited to tracks and footpaths, so most travel must be arranged in advance.
Despite its minimal facilities, the airport is an important link for the local community, supporting the movement of passengers, medical supplies and goods. Travelers should plan carefully, confirm charter arrangements and be prepared to be self-sufficient.

Terminal Overview

Terminals
Haivaro Airport has no conventional passenger terminal. The airstrip uses a basic open-air shelter beside the single grass and clay runway, and flights are handled informally by charter operators and local ground staff.
