About Glengyle Airport
Glengyle Airport is a small remote airstrip serving Glengyle Station and the surrounding Diamantina Shire in far western Queensland. It is used mainly for general aviation, charter flights and access to outback cattle stations and remote work sites.
The airport has a single runway, 15/33, approximately 880 metres long, and its ICAO code is YGLE. It does not have a conventional commercial passenger terminal, so arrivals and departures are generally handled on a small scale with prior arrangement.
Located roughly 50 km south of Bedourie and about 124 km north of Birdsville, the airstrip sits in a sparsely populated outback region where road travel depends on conditions and careful planning.
Because on-site facilities are limited, travellers should arrange transport, water and supplies in advance. The airport operates on Australian Eastern Standard Time (UTC+10) and remains an important access point for remote Queensland.
