About Glen Innes Airport
Glen Innes Airport is a small public airport serving Glen Innes and the wider Northern Tablelands region of New South Wales. Located about 9 km northwest of the town centre, it supports general aviation, charter and private flights and functions as an important local airfield for the Glen Innes Highlands.
The airport has two runways, a taxiway, a main apron and a compact passenger terminal, along with hangars and associated aviation facilities. At an elevation of roughly 1,044 metres, it sits in the high country of the New England region, an area known for its cool climate and Celtic heritage.
Road access to the town centre is straightforward, with the drive typically taking around 10 to 15 minutes by car, taxi or pre-arranged transfer. There is no regular scheduled airline passenger service, so most travellers reach the airport by private vehicle, rental car or arranged ground transportation.
Plans for the site include further aviation-related development, such as expanded hangar and apron facilities, while the existing terminal continues to provide basic passenger amenities for charter and general aviation users.
