About Geraldton (Greenstone Regional) Airport
Geraldton Greenstone Regional Airport (YGQ) is a small regional airport serving the town of Geraldton and the Municipality of Greenstone in northwestern Ontario. It supports general aviation, charter and cargo flights, and plays an important role in medical evacuation and forestry operations across the region.
The airport operates a single paved runway, designated 08/26 and roughly 5,000 feet long, together with one terminal building and fueling facilities. It is an uncontrolled aerodrome without customs service, and it operates during limited hours with prior notice required for some operations.
Located about 6 km north of the Geraldton town centre, the airport is reached by road from Highway 584. Travelers typically continue by private vehicle, taxi, rental car or pre-arranged transfer, since scheduled public transit is limited in this part of northwestern Ontario.
The airport is a key base for MedEvac transportation and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry's Greenstone Fire Management Headquarters. It also supports charter operators serving remote First Nations communities, making it an important aviation link for northern Ontario.
