About Gap–Tallard Airport
Gap–Tallard Airport is a small public-use aerodrome serving Gap and the Hautes-Alpes department in southeastern France. Located at Tallard, about 12 km south-southwest of Gap, it supports general aviation, gliding, skydiving, microlight flying and other leisure air sports rather than scheduled commercial airline services.
The airfield traces its origins to a landing ground created in 1928 and developed from the 1930s, when the Aéro-Club Alpin established early flying activity. Today it is a well-known centre for recreational flying, with a paved runway of about 965 metres and additional grass landing areas.
It is reached from Gap by road, with local bus services linking Gap and Tallard and the A51 motorway nearby. The location also gives access to the Durance Valley, the Écrins and other destinations in the southern French Alps.
Because it is not a commercial terminal airport, airline check-in and duty-free shopping are not available. Visitors and flight participants use the airfield's general aviation facilities and services in nearby Tallard and Gap.
