Flinders Island Airport (FLS)

Flinders Island Airport is a small regional airport serving Flinders Island in Bass Strait, off the north-east coast of Tasmania. Owned and operated by the Flinders Council, the airport sits about 3.7 km northwest of Whitemark, the island's main town, and provides a vital air link for residents, visitors and essential services.

The airport primarily handles regular public transport flights operated by Sharp Airlines, with scheduled connections to Launceston in Tasmania and Melbourne in Victoria. Charter, freight, emergency and private flights also use the facility. Its aviation infrastructure includes two sealed runways, a sealed taxiway and apron, a grassed apron and a fuel storage area.

The passenger terminal is a compact single-building facility beside the sealed apron, with an adjacent car parking area. Facilities are limited but practical, with a small café and basic passenger amenities rather than the lounges and large retail areas found at major airports.

Travellers reach the airport by road from Whitemark and surrounding island areas. There is no scheduled public bus service, so most visitors use private transfers, taxis booked in advance, or rental cars arranged before or after arrival.
