About Fane Airport

Fane Airport is a small mission airstrip serving Fane and the surrounding highland communities in Central Province, Papua New Guinea. Set in the rugged Owen Stanley Range, it provides an essential air link for remote settlements that have little or no road access.

The airfield has a short, steep grass strip of about 451 metres with a pronounced slope, requiring short take-off and landing aircraft and experienced mountain pilots. Operations are weather dependent, and landings are typically made uphill while take-offs are made downhill.

There are no scheduled commercial airline services at FNE. The airport is used mainly by missionary aviation operators such as Mission Aviation Fellowship and by charter flights, connecting the area with Port Moresby and other regional centres.

Because the airstrip has no public road connection, onward travel is limited to walking or pre-arranged local assistance. Passengers should plan logistics with the Fane Mission or their flight operator before arrival.

Transfers

Pre-arranged transfers are essential at Fane Airport because there are no public road services. Coordinate local transport or mission vehicle assistance in advance for onward travel within the Fane area.

Hourly Chauffeur

Standard hourly chauffeur service is not available at this remote airstrip. Travellers should arrange local guides or mission transport in advance for flexible movement around the highland area.
