About Doini Airport

Doini Airport (DOI) is a small private airstrip on Doini Island, also known as Blanchard Island, on the southern side of East Channel in Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea. The airstrip was developed by the Doini Island Plantation Resort to give guests direct access to the island and to bring in supplies.

The airfield has a single grass and gravel runway and is used for light short take-off and landing aircraft and private charters, operating only in daylight and under visual flight rules. There are no scheduled commercial airline services, so travellers typically fly to Gurney Airport in Alotau and continue to the island by pre-arranged charter flight or resort boat transfer.

Located offshore from Alotau, the island is reached across the waters of Milne Bay in roughly 15 to 20 minutes by light aircraft or about two hours by boat. The small open-air reception area at the airstrip keeps arrivals simple, with resort staff meeting guests and handling onward transport.

Although the airfield has limited facilities, the nearby Doini Island Plantation Resort provides accommodation, dining and island activities. Doini Airport therefore works as a quiet resort gateway for visitors to Doini Island and the surrounding Castori Islets rather than a conventional commercial airport.
