Opened in 1974, Santiago Mariño Caribbean International Airport is the main airport serving Porlamar and Margarita Island in the state of Nueva Esparta, Venezuela. It replaced the city's older airport and has become the island's primary gateway for domestic and international visitors.
Located in El Yaque, about 12 km west-southwest of central Porlamar, the airport handles flights connecting the island with Caracas and other Venezuelan cities as well as seasonal and charter international services. Its single passenger terminal is divided into international and domestic sections.
