Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport (YXC)

Cranbrook/Canadian Rockies International Airport is the main air gateway to Cranbrook, Kimberley and the East Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. It provides scheduled connections through Air Canada, WestJet and Pacific Coastal Airlines to Calgary, Vancouver and Kelowna, linking the Kootenay Rockies to wider domestic and international networks. The airport is located approximately 10 km north of downtown Cranbrook and about 20 km southeast of Kimberley. A major expansion programme completed in 2008 delivered a new 2,100-square-metre terminal building with dedicated international arrivals and departures areas and a Canada Border Services Agency facility, while the runway was extended to 8,000 feet. Passengers arrive into a single terminal where check-in, security screening, baggage claim and ground transportation are concentrated in one building. The terminal offers free Wi-Fi, a restaurant and café, baggage carts and accessible facilities, making connections straightforward for both leisure and business travellers. The airport is reached by road via Highway 95A, with taxis, shuttle services and car rental counters providing onward travel to Cranbrook, Kimberley, Fernie and the surrounding mountain and ski areas.
