About Cordillo Downs Airport
Cordillo Downs Airport (ODL) is a small outback airstrip serving Cordillo Downs Station, a working cattle station and former sheep property in far north-east South Australia. The airfield is identified by ICAO code YCOD and provides an essential air link in a region where road access is remote and often slow.
The airport has a single runway, 15/33, with a field elevation of about 125 ft. It mainly supports station operations, private flights and charter aircraft rather than scheduled commercial services. Its position is approximately 116 km north of Innamincka and 155 km south-east of Birdsville.
Access by road is via the Cordillo Downs Road, an unsealed outback track suited to four-wheel-drive vehicles, with travel times varying widely according to conditions. The airfield therefore offers a practical alternative for reaching this part of the Channel Country.
Facilities at the airport are minimal and designed for remote operations, so passengers and pilots should confirm fuel, access and landing arrangements before travelling.
