About Clarence Valley Regional Airport
Clarence Valley Regional Airport is the regional airport serving Grafton and the wider Clarence Valley in northern New South Wales. It has operated since 1959 and is managed by Clarence Valley Council, functioning as an important aviation hub for general aviation, charter flights and emergency services.
The airport sits about 13 km southeast of the Grafton town centre and features a single 1,709-metre asphalt runway with full lighting and 24-hour operations. Its compact terminal handles arrivals and departures, with basic passenger facilities, car parking and car rental access.
Until June 2022 the airport was served by Regional Express flights to Sydney, but scheduled passenger services are not currently operating. Today it remains a busy base for the NSW Air Ambulance, Royal Flying Doctor Service, LifeFlight, Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter and community flights such as Angel Flight and Little Wings, as well as aerial firefighting operations.
Grafton is about a 15-to-20-minute drive away by road, and the airport is well positioned near the Pacific Highway for onward journeys to Yamba, Maclean, Coffs Harbour and other Clarence Valley destinations. Taxis, pre-arranged transfers, chauffeured vehicles and rental cars provide the main ground transport options.
