Chillagoe Airport (LLG)

Chillagoe Airport is a small regional aerodrome serving the township of Chillagoe and the surrounding mining, grazing and tourism country in Far North Queensland. It supports general aviation, charter flights, mining operations and visitors travelling to the Chillagoe limestone caves and other local attractions.

The aerodrome lies about 2 km north of the township and has a single sealed runway, 17/35, with pilot-activated lighting, an aerodrome frequency response unit, Avgas fuel and apron parking. It does not operate a traditional commercial passenger terminal, so passenger facilities are minimal and most services are found in Chillagoe itself.

Chillagoe sits roughly 205 km west of Cairns and about 140 km west of Mareeba, with road access through outback Queensland. Because scheduled airline services do not operate here, travellers generally reach the area by road or private charter and arrange onward transfers in advance.

For visitors exploring cave country, nearby national park sites and the Gulf Savannah region, the aerodrome offers a practical entry point for light aircraft and charter operations rather than a full-service passenger hub.
