About Bundi Airport
Bundi Airport is a small domestic airfield serving the town of Bundi and surrounding highland communities in Madang Province, Papua New Guinea. It provides an important air link for remote rural areas where road access can be difficult and slow.
The airport sits at an elevation of about 4,400 feet (1,341 metres) and has a single unpaved runway of roughly 670 metres, used mainly for small aircraft and light charter operations. Its modest infrastructure is designed for domestic and rural air services rather than large commercial flights.
Located in the highlands of Madang Province, the airport is about 85 km from the provincial capital, Madang, with the road journey typically taking around two and a half to three hours. Nearby towns include Goroka and Kundiawa, each roughly 40 km away, and Mount Hagen further to the west.
Passenger facilities are limited, reflecting the airport's small size, but it remains a practical gateway for travelers and local communities moving between the highlands and other parts of Papua New Guinea.
