About Bella Coola Airport
Bella Coola Airport is the only certified airport serving Bella Coola and the Bella Coola Valley on British Columbia's Central Coast. It links this remote community to the rest of the province through Pacific Coastal Airlines' scheduled flights to Vancouver International Airport's South Terminal.
The airport site was designated for regional airport use in 1972 and is operated by the Central Coast Regional District. It has a single passenger terminal, one main asphalt apron and a 4,200-foot runway, with visual landing aids supporting daytime flights under visual flight rules.
Located about 11 km northeast of Bella Coola, the airport is a short drive from the community. Travelers can continue by taxi, rental car or pre-arranged transfer, while the wider Bella Coola Valley is also reached by seasonal ferry and by road from Williams Lake.
The compact terminal keeps arrival and departure procedures straightforward, and the mountainous scenery makes the short flight from Vancouver a scenic introduction to the coast. As a daylight, VFR-only airport, scheduled services operate during daytime hours.
