Situated on Bedwell Harbour, it provides a waterfront arrival point for travellers visiting the island and for onward connections to Vancouver, Victoria and other nearby destinations.
The aerodrome is classified as an airport of entry by Nav Canada, with Canada Border Services Agency officers available on a call-out basis from Victoria International Airport for general aviation flights carrying no more than 15 passengers. Scheduled seaplane service links the base with Vancouver Harbour.
Facilities are intentionally compact, with operations centred on the sheltered harbour and dock rather than a large terminal. Visitors continue to local accommodation, ferries and island attractions from the waterfront.
