About Aumo Airport

Aumo Airport is a small airstrip serving Aumo, a village in West New Britain Province on the western side of New Britain island in Papua New Guinea. It carries the IATA code AUV and ICAO code AYUM, and mainly supports local and regional flights serving remote communities.

The airport has a single unpaved runway, 14/32, roughly 800 metres long with a brown clay gravel surface, and sits at an elevation of about 137 metres. As a small regional aerodrome, it does not have the large terminal, security and retail infrastructure found at major airports, so passenger handling is kept simple.

Aumo lies about 190 km west of Kimbe, the provincial capital, and roughly 440 km north of Port Moresby. Road connections in the area are limited and slow, so travellers usually arrange local vehicles, private transfers or community transport before arrival.

Despite its modest facilities, the airstrip provides an important air link for residents, workers and visitors moving between remote communities in western New Britain. Travellers should confirm flight, transport and service arrangements ahead of time.
