Corn Island Airport is the main air gateway to Great Corn Island, part of Nicaragua's South Caribbean Coast Autonomous Region. The small civil-military airport sits in the Brig Bay area and provides the island's principal scheduled air connection.
Located in the centre of Great Corn Island, the airport is about 70 km east of Nicaragua's Caribbean coast. Scheduled services are operated by La Costeña, with daily flights linking the island to Managua, often via Bluefields; the Bluefields flight takes around 20 minutes.
The airport has a single asphalt runway about 1,900 m long, a control tower and operating hours from early morning until sunset. Its facilities can accommodate aircraft such as the ATR-42 and Cessna Grand Caravan used on regional routes.
Because Great Corn Island is small, the airport sits close to hotels, beaches and Brig Bay. Taxis are the most common way to get around, with shuttle buses, golf carts, scooters and bicycles also available, and boats connect travellers onward to Little Corn Island.
